Tyne and Wear Plan Partners: Cycling
Tyne and Wear Plan Partners are keen to increase cycle journeys to work, school and for leisure. The Plan Partners aim is to reduce reliance on the private motor vehicle, in order to reduce congestion, improve air quality and increase levels of physical activity.
The Tyne and Wear cycling strategy is designed as an umbrella document for the five local authorities' own cycling strategies, clarifying and confirming agreed policies that will enable consistent quality, quantity and design standards across Tyne and Wear.
Our key target is to achieve 5% cycle trip growth between 2006-11.

The Plan Partners, Sustrans, Tynebikes and CTC work together to develop the network, in order to improve connectivity for both utility and leisure cycle routes.
